| The Island Dog Club was
formed in January, 1998 making this one of three All Breed Dog Clubs on
Prince Edward Island.
Our objective is to advance and promote the best interests of purebred dogs; to participate in and support dog shows; to emphasize the value of purebred dogs; to create an appreciation on the part of the public of the value of purebred dogs by shows and promotions and by example; and just as importantly, to foster and maintain a warm friendship among ourselves and develop a high degree of sportsmanship. Our members come from all walks of life, have a love for many different breeds and participate in many aspects of the sport (conformation showing, hunting and obedience trials, agility, flyball, tracking, Therapy dogs, etc.) which helps bring diversity and knowledge to the Island Dog Club. We encourage anyone interested in showing or trialing their purebred dog to participate in frequent handling, training, and socializing classes that are held across the Island. The Island Dog Club, although relatively new in the community, is made up of enthusiastic and dedicated members. We meet on a regular basis and encourage all newcomers to join us and learn to love, enjoy and care for all dogs.
